The cartoonist for the Sacramento Bee and other California papers was featured in this video profile by California Forward’s Cheryl Getuiza. Meyer will be a guest at a November 7 session of the 2013 California Economic Summit and it should be an enlightening and funny chance to talk about the state’s ups and downs.

If you’ve ever opened up a newspaper and read some of the political cartoons, you know it’s not just about getting a few chuckles. Those cartoons actually have a message.

Tom Meyer never aspired to be a political cartoonist. In fact, he was working on Capitol Hill for Congressman Charles Wilson. It was during that time, he decided to switch gears and Californians are glad he did.

His cartoons have appeared in many California newspapers including the San Francisco Chronicle, the Sacramento Bee, the Los Angeles Times, and the San Diego Union-Tribune. He’s also picked up numerous awards including a James Madison Freedom of Information Award.

Meyer is spending his life making sure Californians are informed so they may become engaged.
