California’s unemployment is still in the double digits. How do we fix that? How can we make sure we can get Californians back to work and make the state’s economy golden again?

That’s what the first ever Economic Summit was designed to explore. It was spearheaded by California Forward and the California Stewardship Network.

At California Forward, we like to do stories on areas who are making a difference, and we found one in Patterson, in the northern part of the Central Valley.

The city is slowly putting itself on the map as a small city doing big business. It recently landed an Amazon distribution center and it’s still growing. How did they do it? By working on a long-term plan to be shovel-ready for companies looking to build.
